Rakuten The Eagles invicted about 500 members of their fan club to an autograph session Sunday.

Catcher Katsunori Nomura turned 33 Sunday.

Outfielder Koichi Sekikawa began his career as a catcher and was worked out at that spot for a bit Sunday in case either Akihito Fujii and Nomura become injured. I wouldn't put it past manager Katsuya Nomura to try starting Sekikawa because neither his son nor Fujii have been doing anything with the stick while Sekikawa, while having little pop, can at least make decent contact.

Interim manager Koji Moriwaki revealed that skipper Sadaharu Oh called him just after game one of the all star series and said that he is going to take his time before he is back in the dugout.

Today, Oh was given food in liquid form and he also has a little bit of milk in addition to water.

Just as a reminder, if you want to send a get well message to Oh, Hochi Sports has a  form  on their website you can use to do so. The top box is for your name, the second one for your address, the third for your email address and the fourth for your message. You may write in english.

Southpaw Toshiya Sugiuchi will likely be recalled on the 30th. He is down in the minors after he got rocked in a few starts. He will pitch in a simulated game Monday.
