Daiei
Kazumi Saito is scheduled to make a Western League start Friday. 

Rookie Akashi has been sent back down in order to learn the outfield. Minor league outfielder Kato has been brought up in his place. 

Hector Mercado, who has been in the minors since signing with the Hawks, will be called up after the end of the coming series with Lotte. No word on what his role will be, however. 

 


Seibu
Following an impressive first pro start Wednesday, rookie Yamazaki may get another start against Orix to give Fumiya Nishiguchi more   time to heal up from a groin injury. Nothing is set in stone, though.
 


Lotte
Infielder Seung-yeop Lee went 0-2 Thursday in his first minor  league game since being demoted. 


Nippon Ham
As alluded to Wednesday, infielder Kuniyuki Kimoto has gotten hitched. His new mate is a tv and move actress named Eriko Maebara, who currently stars in a daily morning drama for NHK called  Chura-san. They had been dating two years before filing the papers for marriage on the 27th. No date has been set for the wedding ceremony itself. 


Orix
Outfielder Roosevelt Brown was fined 100,000 yen for arguing with  an umpire and being ejected Wednesday night by the league office. 


Miscellaneous
The reinstitution of a playoff system inthe Pacific League has the circuit's officials scratching their heads over what to do if they get  more rainouts. One possible solution is doubleheaders at the end of September, but they would like to avoid that if they can.
