2004: Former Lotte pitcher Hiroshi Ogawa is arrested by Saitama Prefecture police for a murder he committed during a strong arm robbery. According to Hochi Sports, Ogawa, who was working for an industrial waste disposal company at the time of the killing, had accumulated debts upwards of 800,000 yen (about $8,000 at the time) to a consumer loan firm (probably yakuza-run, one would assume) and, on November 18, 2004,  demanded a loan from coworker Kazuko Nishiuchi, 67, at her home in Ageo, Saitama Prefecture. She refused and he pushed her down and took an estimated 1.75 million yen (approximately $17,000) from her, loaded her into a car, drove 1.8 miles to the Arakawa River and dumped her in it, whereupon she drowned. Her body was found two days later.
