Biography: Won story has it that Minnesota's owner wanted the $100,000 that Hankyu was offering for Wells so badly that he threatened to bury Wells in the minors if he didn't accept Hankyu's offer to go to Japan. Wells himself believes that it was done for racial reasons, though that is hard to believe given all the blacks and Latins that played for the Twins before Wells came to the club. Anyway, Was a Triple Crown winner, the first foreigner to ever do that, though Japanese pitchers, even on his own team, tried to prevent it by grooving fastballs to Lotte's Hiromitsu Ochiai (1984). Hammered four grand slams in a season, a Pacific League record (1987). Slugged a 531 foot homer completely out of the ballpark and into an apartment building, at the time the longest jack in Japanese history (7/13/1988 against Seibu at Nishinomiya Stadium off of Hisanobu Watanabe). Homered in five straight games beginning on Opening Day, the first time in Japanese history that had ever happened (4/9-4/16/1989). Homered in five straight one other time (9/6-9/11/1987). Grounded into 34 double playes in a season, a Japan record (1989). Was fastest ever to 1000 hits at the time, 781 games. Selected to five all star teams (1984-1986, 1988-1989). In 1991, was 11-25 on 3-2 counts, which lead the PL.

Biography: Selected on the first round of MLB draft by the New York Yankees (1978). Known for entertaining fans with amusing antics during rain delays. Would also put on a sumo top knot wig and cavort with team cheerleaders before games. Read The Bible before games to help him relax. In 1991, 18 of his homers were to right, seven to center and eight to left. 10 of those dingers were against lefties and 18 against righties. In 1990, he went yard 15 times off of southpaws. He had zero infield hits in 1991, the first time that had been done since Sadaharu Oh in 1980. Had a streak of 651 plate appearances without an infield hit through the end of the 1991 season. Selected to two all star teams and went 1-10 with an RBI in four total games (1991, 1993). 103 homers in first three seasons is seventh all time. Reaching 100 homers in 368 games is tenth fastest all time. His 404 walks is ninth all time among foreign players. Selected to two all star teams (1991, 1993). Now works as a scout.

Biography: Signed out of the KBO, where he played with the Doosan Bears. Charged the mound after getting one by the head and punched out Yakult lefty Shugo Fujii, getting him a ten game suspension and a 500,000 yen fine (5/5/2005 in the bottom of the fifth at Nagoya Dome). Three homer game (8/6/2005 against Yokohama at Yokohama Stadium). Learned to hit the ball the other way more effectively in 2006 and it made him more of a threat with runners in scoring position. Set new team single season homer and RBI marks in 2006 while being a monster down the home stretch to lead the Dragons into the Japan Series. His 143 RBIs in 2006 is sixth most all time. 100th homer (6/16/2005 against Orix at Nagoya Dome in the sixth inning off of Daisuke Kato, a three run jack to center). 200th homer (8/16/2007 against Hanshin at Osaka Dome in the sixth inning off of Tsuyoshi Shimoyanagi, a two run blast to left). First ever Chunichi player to get three straight 100 RBI seasons (2005-2007). Couldn't get together with the Dragons on contract terms for 2009 and was released. Selected to two all star teams (2003, 2007). Reference: Wikipedia Japan
