Biography: Tied a Pacific League record with three walkoff homers in a season (1996). Got married at home plate at Kobe Green Stadium before a game with Daiei (7/22/1998). "No way a Japanese could ever do that," commented Ichiro Suzuki. Slugged two homers in an inning (8/9/1998). Released after the 1997 season, but brought back midway through the 1998 season. Had at least one strikeout in 23 straight games (6/30- 8/1/1998). 100th homer (8/8/1998 against Daiei at Kobe Green Stadium). Kicked off of Korean team due to getting into a bar fight with pitcher Mike Farmer. After retirement, reportedly rented an island in the Vanuatu area for 70 years to develop as a resort at the cost of around $6 million. No word as to whether he actually accomplished that.

Biography: Played as part of a U.S. university all star team that faced one from Japan in Japan (1980). His sayonara hit decided the longest game in Japanese history, a 15 inning game that went five hours and 51 minutes. He went 4-7 in that game, including a homer, driving in all six Taiyo runs. He called it the best memory of his pro baseball career (8/4/1990 against Chunichi). Sold to Hanshin (12/4/1991). Had back trouble in 1993 and missed the last part of the season, asking to be released in August. Selected to two all star teams (1992-1993).

Biography: Born in the Bronx to an Italian father and a Venezuelan mother. Moved to Venezuela at age three. Tore it up in the minors, but none of the organizations he played for seemed to have a spot for him on their big league rosters. Owns the Yakult team record for most walks in a season (2001). Slugged a homer in five straight games (8/4-8/9/2000). He is the second foreign player ever to have four straight seasons of .300-30 homers, but the first to do that from his first year in the league. Signed the richest contract in Japanese baseball history with Yomiuri that average almost $9 million a season. However, his time there was also marked by knee problems and he never seemed to recover fully from offseason surgery after the 2003 schedule ended. And due to the presence of Kazuhiro Kiyohara at first, Petagine was consigned to the outfield, where he proved to be below average. Released by Yomiuri and picked up by Boston, where he suffered more knee problems. Retired after a brief stint with Seattle before deciding to play in the Mexican League with the Mexico City Red Devils in 2008. Played with LG of the KBO in 2008-2009. Signed by Softbank in April, 2010. His first homer in 2010 was a two run walkoff jack. 100th homer (6/28/2001 against Yokohama at Meiji Jingu Stadium in the third inning off of Mark Holzemer, the 213th to that mark). 200th homer (5/8/2004 against Hiroshima at Hiroshima Municipal Stadium in the first inning off of Takaya Kawauchi). Selected to three all star teams (1999-2001). Reference: Wikipedia Japan
