| Biography: Slugged 151 homers in the U.S. minors and couldn't get arrested. Was let go by the Devil Rays in 1998 and played in Mexico and then signed to play in Taiwan in 1999. He was subsequently picked for a cup of coffee with Arizona, who released him, and was signed by Seibu. Slammed one shot that hit the Seibu Dome roof 80 feet above the leftfield stands, a blast that was estimated at more than 550 feet had it been able to continue going (5/26/2001 against Daiei off of Kenichi Wakatabe). Has hit the roofs of domed stadiums many times since then and has lost homers because of it. Pounded 30 homers in 64 games to tie a Japan record (2001). His 55 homers in 2002 tied a Japan record. By the way, for you media nitwits out there, he wasn't denied the chance to break the record because of some grand conspiracy. He was pitched to by Orix the last two games of the season, but was by his own admission overswinging and didn't get it done. He later praised the Blue Wave staff for pitching to him "like men." Had a six game homer streak (9/9-9/15/2003). Was the first foreign player ever to hammer 150 homers in a thnree year period. Suffered a broken forearm after being struck by a pitch from Kintetsu hurlder Hiroki Yamamura in the early days of the 2004 regular schedule and was out three months. Drilled another ball off the roof beyond the leftfield wall and it ricocheted back into leftcenterfield. It was ruled a homer and was estimated to be on its way to going comfortably over 600 feet if it had been permitted to continue through the air. A plaque commemorates that blast now (6/3/2005 against Yokohama at Seibu Dome off of Daisuke Miura). 100th homer (9/13/2002 against Kintetsu at Osaka Dome in the ninth inning off of Katsunari Yoshikawa, a two run jack to left in his 247th game, the second fastest to that mark in history). 200th homer (7/11/2005 against Lotte at Seibu Dome off of Hiroyuki Kobayashi in the second inning; a solo jack to left and, at 538 games, he was the fastest ever to that mark by a wide margin). 250th homer (4/29/2007 against Lotte at Seibu Dome off of Yoshihisa Naruse in the sixth inning in his 733rd game, the 50th man in hhistory to that number and tying the record for fastest ever to that mark). 300th homer (8/20/2008 against Rakuten at Kobe Green Stadium off of Koji Aoyama in the sixth inning, a solo jack to center and the fastest ever to that mark at 934 games). Let go because of his supposedly showing signs of going down hill despite leading the club in homers and RBIs, so it was likely due to not wanting to pay him $5-6 million a season. Suffered a broken pinky toe after being hit by a hot shot off the bat of teammate Mitsutaka Goto and missed two months of the season (4/2009). Missed some time in 2010 with an oblique pull and then pulled a hamstring and still lead the PL in OPS. Wouldn't accept a one year offer from Orix during the 2010 offseason and parted ways with them as a result, his place being taken by Seung-yeop Lee. He is just one of two men ever to have a career SLG of over .600 (4,000 or more plate appearances) 1000th hit (7/10/2008 against Rakuten at Miyagi Prefectural Stadium in the third inning off of Domingo Guzman, an RBI single to center). 1000th game (7/31/2009 against Seibu at Kobe Green Stadium ina start at first base). 1000th strikeout (7/30/2010 against Rakuten at Miyagi Prefectural Stadium in the ninth inning against Shinichiro Koyama). Selected to five all star teams (2001-2003, 2006-2007). A caricature of him done in stone once adornsd the front of Seibu Dome. Reference: Wikipedia Japan |

| Biography: Played in the Can-Am League in 2008 with the Worcester Tornadoes before signing with the Kochi Fighting Dogs of the Shikoku-Kyushu Island League in 2009, grabbing the homer and RBI crowns and being named to the league's Best Nine squad. He subsequently hooked up with the Gumma Diamond Pegasus of the Baseball Challenge League in 2010. Orix then acquired him in July, making him the first foreigner to go from the BCL to NPB ever. When he homered in his first NPB game, he became the first former BCL player to go yard there ever. Broke his left wrist while swining at a pitch in September, 2010. Reference: Wikipedia Japan |

| Biography: Played in Taiwan with the 7-11 Lions after being let go by Pittsburgh. His lackluster glovework (15 errors at second base alone) likely cost him a chance to come back for another season. He played in the Mesxican League after leaving Japan with the Mexico City Red Devils. However, needing more offense, Lotte signed him in late June 2011 and he smacked four hits, including a homer, in his first game back in Japan. |

| Biography: Played in the Mexican League from 2005-2009, leaving MLB because he had a family and needed to make more money than he was getting in the minors. He also played in the Atlantic League during that span. Was seen in the Dominican Winter League by a Chunichi scout in 2009 and eventually signed with them. He then not only didn't hit for the club, but his problematic defense and his being called out for a lack of dedication by coach Tom Delarosa assured that he would be released at season's end. | Biography: Selected to three all star teams (1985, 1989-1990). Made a total of 1.2 billion yen during his seven years in Japan. His manager at Yomiuri, Sadaharu Oh, told him to swing as if he was holding a book between his legs as a way to keep his front side from flying open too early. One of Cromartie's sons has a middle name of "Oh" as a tribute to the former slugger. He once slugged a pinch hit grand slam that broke a 3-3 tie after being taken to hospital earlier in the day as a result of being hit in the head with a pitch the night before (10/2/1986 against Yakult). 60 percent of his homers came with the difference in the score being one run. Played with Oakland after leaving Japan. Chronicled his pro yakyu career in a book called "Slugging it Out in Japan." |
