Biography: Played basketball in junior high because the school didn't have a baseball team. Played every position in high school, but in college, was confined to third base and catcher. Played on two Japanese national collegiate all star teams. Drafted on the second round (1990). Traded to Hanshin and then had knee surgery that November. Has caught no hitters while with both teams he has been part of thus far. His hit in a game in 2001 against Chunichi at Ishikawa Prefectural Stadium prevented the Tigers from being victimized by a perfect game by Shigeki Noguchi. Has been a driving force behind the revivial of Hanshin's fortunes. 100th homer (10/4/2006 against Yakult at Meiji Jingu Stadium off of Kazuhisa Ishii, a three run jack). Holds the all time record for hits by a Hanshin catcher. 1500th game (9/16/2007 against Chunichi at Koshien Stadium). Selected to six all star teams (1999, 2002-2006). Hobby is bass fishing. Biography: Signed by Kintetsu before the beginning of the 1961 season.   Set a team record with four steals in a game (8/1968 against Nankai). Selected to one all star team (1969). Coached at both the minor league and top club levels and has managed in the minors for Kintetsu as well after he retired at the end of the 1976 schedule.
