Biography: Started playing baseball in second grade. Played in Boys League in junior high. His father was his head coach in high school. Had his left hell operated on three times while he was in high school, but still managed to slug 41 homers for his career there. Drafted on the first round (2000). Had some vision problems during the early part of the 2003 season. He then began experiencing weakness in his body during the middle of that year and it was discovered that he had a nerve problem in his jaw that was causing the problem. That was corrected by surgery. Had a case of the yips throwing from second base, which was largely responsible for him seeing so much action in left and at first. His .378 batting average in 2008 is a Central League record for a Japanese player. Picked for Japan's 2009 WBC club and lit it up, including a long homer to left in San Diego against Korea  and an incredible and huge defensive play in left against the U.S. at Dodger Stadium. Married to Fuji-Tv announcer Tsubasa Nagano. Selected to one all star team (2008-2009). Official Homepage  Reference: Wikipedia Japan

Biography: Caught Minoru Murayama in college. Became a coach after retiring as a player before taking the manager's slot at Hankyu. After two years as an  NHK baseball commentator, he managed at Nippon Ham, though he resigned from that post in his second season at the Fighters helm due to a family religious controversy. But he came back to run Nippon Ham in 1998 and held that post until the end of the 1999 season. He is just one of seven managers to last more than 20 years. After leaving baseball, worked as a baseball commentator for Daily Sports.
