Biography: Pudgy. Took a Western League batting title in 1967. Slugged first ever come from behind sayonara homer in all star history in game one of 1974 series off of Hiro Matsuoka of Yakult to win it 3-2 with one out in the bottom of the ninth to get the game MVP. It was the only year he would be named to an all star squad. His six pinch hit homers that season set a record. 27 lifetime pinch hit homers is a Japan record. One of only four players with more than 2000 at bats to have just one career triple. Ran his own little  restaurant after first working in building maintenance and as a radio baseball commentator. Married to wife Yasue and had two daughters. One of them, Miwa, acted with the Takarazuka Theater Troupe.

Biography: Was a pitcher in high school. Got his big chance when the starting leftfielder, Etsuro Otsuka, came down with TB in 1954. He cracked two doubles against Hankyu Braves ace Takao Kajimoto in that game. Killed lefties. Hit to all fields, could really go get the ball and had a cannon that was very accurate. 10/2/1958 slugged a pinch hit grand slam against Kintetsu. Leadoff the first inning with a homer six times in 1963 to tie a record and 18 overall. Selected to nine all star teams (1956-1957, 1959, 1961-1966). Named MVP of game two of 1965 all star series. Batted cleanup for Yomiuri three times. Didn't drink, gamble or womanize, but liked buying and working on imported cars and he was always in financial trouble because of it. 1500 hits (10/10/1967 against Hiroshima at Korakuen Stadium). Severed all pro baseball ties when he retired, though he became active in Senior League baseball.

Biography: Started out playing softball in third grade and then played nanshiki ball in junior high. Was his team's cleanup hitter in high school, slugging 29 homers and flashing a .513 batting average. Played in one Koshien Tournament (summer 1992). Drafted on the third round (1993). Can really run and throw. Sold to Seibu in May,. 2003. Released after the 2006 season and signed during spring training by Rakuten after he had intended to give up baseball. Biography: Moved to Nagoya when he was a pre-schooler and then moved to Kanazawa in ninth grade. Started playing baseball in fifth grade. Played in two Koshien Tournaments. Won two batting titles in college and was named to three Best Nine squads, each time at a different position, the first time in Tokyo Metropolitan University League history that has ever occurred. He was then selcted to Japan's national collegiate all star aggregation and was MVP in a tournament against a similar team from the U.S. Drafted on the second round (1997). Had reconstructive elbow surgery in October, 1999 and the recovery process so hindered him for a couple of years that he thought of quitting. Had a Lasik procedure after the 2004 campaign. Got the first ever knock in Rakuten history (3/26/2005 against Lotte in the first inning). He also had its first extra base hit, a double, and its initial run scored in that same game. However, he subsequently came down with tonsilities and had Achilles tendon problems that year and it reduced his playing time. Picked to play in the final NPB-MLB all star series (2006). Had the fewest strikeouts of any player qualifying for the batting title in 2008. Suffered an ankle ligamernt injury in 2009 and missed three months of the season.
