Biography: Started playing baseball in Little League. Transfered from Osaka Toin High to Kagoshima Shoko the summer of his sophomore year. Played in two Koshien Tournaments. Dropped out of college his freshman year. Drafted on the sixth round (1994). Used mostly as a defensive replacement and pinch runner during his career. Was involved in a notorious incident with plate umpire Atsushi Kittaka on May 6th, 2000 in a game with Yokohama where, following the ejectio of infielder Kazuyoshi Tatsunami for bumping the arbiter while protesting a strike three call, Onichi kicked Kittaka in the ribs, causing a fracture and Kittaka's hospitalization. Onishi should have been suspended for life, but he was instead suspended for a week and had his pay cut. He got on his hands and knees in Kittaka's hospital room and apologized. Sold to Yomiuri after the 2005 season. Became a scout for Yomiuri after retirement. Is married to a pro golfer.

Biography: Started playing baseball in first grade thanks to the influence of his older brother, who wuld go on to play in the industrial leagues. Won an MVP in college. Biography: Started playing baseball in second grade. Played Senior League ball in junior high. Was said to have been fat enough during high school that his homeroom teacher never thought he would play pro ball. Won a batting and an RBI crown in college. Batted cleanup for Japan's national all star squad that played against one from the U.S. Drafted on the fourth round (1996). Hurt a knee in 2004 and ge was given less and less duty behind the plate afterward. Of course, it also didn't help that he was stuck behind hall of fame catcher Atsuya Furuta for nearly the totality of his career.
