Biography: Played in one Koshien Tournament (summer 1973). Won a Tokyo Big Six University League Triple Crown (1978F). His .379 lifetime mark is a circuit record and his 20 homers is third all time. Drafted on the first round (1979). Controversy over Hanshin manager Don Blasingame not playing Okada helped cost the former Cardinal his job. When Hanshin got grand slams in three consecutive games, Okada drilled the third of those bases loaded shots (6/1981). Hammered the 20,000th homer in Central League history (8/19/1980 against Hiroshima at Hiroshima Municipal Stadium). Missed almost the entire second half of the 1983 season due to a leg injury. Belted the third roundtripper in a famous back to back to back jack to centerfield sequence on an 0-1 slider from Hiromi Makihara that was tailing toward the outside corner  (4/17/1985 against Yomiuri at Koshien Stadium). Released by Hanshin and picked up by Orix. Selected to eight all star teams (1980-1982, 1985-1986, 1988-1990). First ever rookie to homer in his debut all star at bat (1980). Coached with Orix and Hanshin before becoming the Tigers minor league skipper.

Biography: Signed after a tryout in 1950. Became a Central League umpire after retirement (1956). Was working the games during the Gene Bacque beanball incident (1968) and the Ikuo Shimano incident at Yokohama Stadium, when Shimano beat him up during the contest (8/31/1982). He was also vilified by fans and the Hankyu Braves for a safe call at home plate during a rundown in the 1969 Japan Series, only to be exonerated by a photo subsequently printed in one of the sports dailies that showed that Okada had indeed made the correct judgment. Tied a record by umpiring in 3776 games.
