(Slugged 60,000th homer in Japanese pro history (9/26/1990 against Orix at Nishinomiya Stadium off of Yukihiko Yamaoki). Biography: Was an outfielder in high school. Won two Tokyo Big Six University League batting titles. Set a record with ten league homers in 1983. Played in the L.A. Olympics (1984). Biography: Originally signed as a pitcher (1955). Converted into an outfielder in 1961. Had hits in each of his first seven pro at bats. Is second all time in lifetime steals. Had a record 31 straight successful steal attempts streak (3/28-5/30/1964). His 44 steals in 46 attempts is a steals success rate record (1968).
