Biography: Served in the Japanese military during WWII. Was a 29 year old teacher and baseball coach at Jinsei Gakuen High School when Hiroshima signed him. Slugged the first Carp homer ever at Hiroshima Municipal Stadium (4/8/1950 in the third inning against Shochiku). He then signed with Yomiuri due to Hiroshima having a habit of issuing their pay packets late. Batted in the cleanup slot for Yomiuri in four games and went 3-13 with no homers and two RBIs (1955). Slammed the first come from behind pinch hit walk off grand slam in Japanese baseball history (3/25/1956 to leftcenter off of Shigeru Sugishita against Chunichi at Korakuen Stadium on a third pitch fastball that was up and over the middle of the plate with one out in the ninth to win it 4-3 in the second game of a doubleheader). Played in five Japan Series and went 8-32 with one homer and four RBIs in 17 games. After retirement, he managed Yashica's industrial league team before being asked to join Kintetsu as its batting instructor, eventually moving on to managing its minor league affiliate among other jobs he held with the Buffaloes. He retired from baseball and worked for an advertising firm.
