Biography: Served in the Japanese military during WWII. Was a 29 year old teacher and baseball coach at Jinsei Gakuen High School when Hiroshima signed him. Slugged the first Carp homer ever at Hiroshima Municipal Stadium (4/8/1950 in the third inning against Shochiku). He then signed with Yomiuri due to Hiroshima having a habit of issuing their pay packets late. Batted in the cleanup slot for Yomiuri in four games and went 3-13 with no homers and two RBIs (1955). Drilled the first come from behind pinch hit walk off grand slam in Japanese baseball history (3/25/1956 to leftcenter off of Shigeru Sugishita against Chunichi at Korakuen Stadium on a third pitch fastball that was up and over the middle of the plate with one out in the ninth to win it 4-3 in the second game of a doubleheader). Played in five Japan Series and went 8-32 with one homer and four RBIs in 17 games. After retirement, he managed Yashica's industrial league team before being asked to join Kintetsu as its batting instructor, eventually moving on to managing its minor league affiliate among other jobs he held with the Buffaloes. He managed in the industrial leagues as well. He retired from baseball and worked for an advertising firm. His death wasn't announced until January, 2009. No reason was announced why there was a delay.

Biography:  Was a big Yomiuri fan as a kid. Started playing baseball in third grade. Played in Boys League beginning in sixth grade. Usually played third in high school, but threw a complete game in in the first game of the 1998 spring Koshien Tournament after their ace came up injured. He then became his team's ace hurler but was beaten in his first outing at the summer Koshien tourney that year. Slugged 34 homers and batted .464 for his schoolboy career. Drafted on the first round (1998). Career has been hindered by suspect defense. Has blazing speed, but zero power. His 49 sacrifice bunts in 2001 is a team record. Had the lowest strikeout rate of any player in NPB in 2009. However, he also lead all CL second basemen in errors with 14. 1000th game (9/20/2008 against Chunichi at Hiroshima Municipal Stadium in a start at second base). 1000th hit (9/9/2009 against Yakult at Meiji Jingu Stadium in the fourth inning off of Masanori Ishikawa, a single to left). Selected to three all star teams (2006, 2008-2009). Is married to his high school sweetheart. Reference: Wikipedia Japan
