Biography: Started playing baseball on a youth league team managed by his father in third grade. Initially played first base in high school and then became his team's pitching ace. Slugged 51 homers as a schoolboy. Drafted on the third round (1996). Won a Western League homer title (2000). Hit his first career homer on Mother's Day. His mom was at the game, but left before he connected to win the contest. Broke his thumb attempting a diving catch in August, 2002 the hurt his shoulder in May 2003, which would become a chronic problem for him. His inability to stay healthy is what ultimately resulted in his being traded to Orix during the 2007 offseason. His first homer for the Buffaloes was a grand slam and it decided the ballgame (4/1/2008 against Seibu at Kobe Green Stadium in the fifth inning off of Fumiya Nishiguchi). Released by Orix at the conclusion of the 2010 campaign and picked up by Yakult. Became a baseball commentator for Asahi TV after retirement. Selected to one all star team (2006). Divorced in 2003.
