Biography:  Is of Korean ancestry, his Korean name being Park Kee-ho. Grew up admiring the Carp. Was an outfielder for his first three and a half years in college before he was switched to third base. Played on a collegiate all star team that squared off against one from the U.S., going 6-12 in that series. Won a Tokyo Metropolitan University League RBI title (1998). Hit just two homers in college. Drafted on the sixth round at the ruging of infielder Kenjiro Nomura, though scouts from other teams as well as Arai's college teammates couldn't believe it because he wass that raw (1998). Cost Eddy Diaz a homer when he thought that the ball had been caught and returned to first base. Diaz passed him on the basepaths for an out and Hiroshima lost by two runs (9/14/1999 against Yakult at Hiroshima Municipal Stadium). Is a terrible fielder and once cost his team a run when, after a bases loaded 5-2-3 double play with nobody out, he tossed the ball to Chunichi's first base coach, who dodged the flip and a runner crossed while the ball rolled down the rightfield line (9/21/1999 against Chunichi at Nagoya Dome in the fifth inning). Especially has trouble throwing. Lead the Central League in errors with 17 in 2002 and with 23 in 2005.Three homer game (10/4/2003 against Hanshin at Hiroshima Municipal Stadium). Had a six game homer streak (6/22-6/28/2005). His 43 homers in 2005 is second most all time for any Carp player. Selected to Japan's WBC team (2006). After his brother Ryota, who plays for Chunichi, smacked a sayonara hit the night before, Takahiro returned the favor the very next day against the Dragons (7/31-8/1/2007). 1000th game (6/19/2007 against Nippon Ham at Hiroshima Municipal Stadium). Moved to Hanshin via free agency. 1000th Hit (4/12/2008 against Yokohama at Yokohama Stadium in the first inning off of Hayato Terahara, a double to right). 100th homer (4/3/2005 against Yomiuri at Tokyo Dome in the eighth inning off of Brian Sikorsky, a two run jack to center). 200th homer (5/31/2008 against Nippon Ham at Sapporo Dome in the seventh inning off of an 86mph fastball from Biran Sweeney, a solo jack to left). Selected to three all star teams (2002, 2005, 2007). His wife is former model Yumiko Ohashi, who is reportedly a bonkers baseball fan herself. Reference:  Wikipedia Japan

Biography: Played in two Koshien Tournaments (spring 1994-1995). Drafted on the first round (1995). Tried switch hitting in 2002 and 2003, but it didn't bear fruit. Also got a case of the yips in 2002 throwing. He changed his throwing style during 2004 and that solved that problem. With shortstop Hirokazu Ibata, formed themost spectacular double play combo in Japan after the advent of the 21st century. His nine four hit games in 2004 is a Japan record. His 913 consecutive chances without an error in 2005 is a Japan record for second basemen. His 496 assists that season is also a Japan record. His 623 official at bats in 2005 is a Central League record. An ankle injury likely cost him the 2009 steals title. 1000th game (9/24/2007 against Yomiuri at Tokyo Dome in a start at second base). 1000th hit (6/21/2008 against Lotte at Nagoya Dome in the sixth inning off of Brian Sikorsku, a triple to rightcenter).
