Biography: Played basketball in seventh grade, but found the workouts too tough and so he switched to baseball the following year. Was his high school and college team's ace.. Played in one Koshien Tournament (spring 1977). Won an MVP and was named to a Tokyo Metropolitan University League Best Nine as a senior, finishing with a 22-22 record in 53 games with a 2.29 ERA. Drafted on the first round (1981). Had a falling out with then new manager Shozo Doin 1990 and that would ultimately result in his moving to Hanshin via free agency. However, he never appeared in a top league game with them at least parrtially due to injury issues. and retired at th end of the 1995 campaign. He is the only free agent that moved to another NPB team who never saw action with his new club. Had 14 walkless complete games lifetime. Selected to two all star teams (1987, 1990). Became a baseball commentator for Sun TV and then J-Sports as well as KBS Shiga. Fastball in the mid-80's with a forkball. His wife is a former actress with the Takarazuka tehater troup, Aki Shirakawa and they have a son as well as a daughter that has acted with the Takarazuka troup under the stage name of Toa Serika. Biography: Started playing baseball in fourth grade. Was hus high school team's pitching ace in high school. Had a 48.2 inning scoreless streak in college, racking up a total of 31 wins. Was also named to a Capitol University Baseball League Best Nine and garnered an MVP. Was also named to Japan's national collegiate all star team, gtrabbing the MVP in a tourney against the U.S. Drafted on the first round (1994). It was said that the way he lifted his elbow duing his delivery resembled a dance movement by the idol duo Pink Lady, so it was called "the "UFO (a Pink Lady song) Delivery." Became the first rookie to get to ten wins before anyone else since Yukio Ozaki of Toei in 1962 and only the third time in history (7/9/1995). Was the Opening Day starter in 1997. Biography: Started playing baseball in third grade. Played in three Koshien Tournaments. Was originally a reliever in college on a national champion ballclub, but became a starter his senior year. Finished with a 22-7 record in 57 games at Hosei with a 1.56 ERA and was clocked at a high of 94mph. Drafted on the second round (1998). Had some injury problems in rookie year and then suffered a torn elbow ligament in 2000 and would be plagued by other maladies afterward. Traded to Kintetsu in 2004 and then went to Rakuten that offseason in the dispersal draft. Released after the 2006 season. Went to the Southern League, playing a season with Schaumburg Flyers in 2007 and was in just eight games with them, getting hit hard, before he was released.
