Biography: Started out playing baseball in third grade. Began playing organized baseball in junior high. Was high high school team's ace, throwing a perfect game there. Played in two Koshien Tournaments (spring, summer 1978). Drafted on thge first round (1981). In 1983, had shoulder and circulation in his middle finger problems, having surgery to fix the latter problem. Experienced more shoulder problems in 1988. Was afflicted by more injury issues in 1990  and then during the offseason, started having headaches. and his health began to deteriorate. On April, 14th, 1991, he lasted just nine pitches in an appearance against Yomiuri and would be hung with the loss. That was his final outing, as he was diagnosed the following day with an inoperable malignant brain tumor and he retired. He rallied for a while, but took a turn for the worse in June, 1992 and passed away a little over a year afterward. Selected to five all star teams (1983, 1986-1989). Had one walkless complete games lifetme. Slugged a grand slam (5/13/1984 against Yakult off of Koji Torihara). A 2000 tv drama was made about him called "Saigo no Strike~Honou no Stopper: Tsuda Tsunemi Ai to Shi wo Mitsumeta Chokkyu Jinsei"  and is Japan's equivalent of "Brian's Song." The ballclub also installed a memorial plaque dedicated to him at Hiroshima Municipal Stadium. When that ballpark was closed, they moved it to Matsuda Stadium. Fastball at 95mph with a curve. Married to wife Akiyo and has a son. Reference:  Wikipedia Japan
