Biography: Started playing baseball in third grade. Became a pitcher three years later. Slugged 36 homers in high school. Drafted on the seventh round (2004). Had injury problems in 2005 and 2006 and also got hit around pretty good in the minors. Racked up 12 wins in the first half of 2010, but then faded and claimed only one victory after the break. Started on Opening Day 2011. Went winless in seven appearances against Hanshin in 2011 (record of 0-4 6.39 against them). Married to wife Anna but is also said to be a heavy smoker and has been hammered for it by manager Tatsunori Hara. Fastball that tops out around 93mph but is usually in the high 80's, big overhand curveball, slider, cutter, shuuto, changeup and forkball. Selected to one all star team (2010). Biography: Started playing baseball in third grade. Became a pitcher in high school, tossing two no hitters (one rain shortened). Drafted on the first round (1994). Hard throwing lefty with a history of control problems. Sold to Hiroshima in 1998 then sold back to Seibu in 1999. Traded to Yokohama in 2003. Picked up by Seibu before the beginning of the 2005 season and then released at the conclusion of the schedule. Picked up by Rakuten before the beginning of the 2006 season. Released after the 2007 season. Migrated to the Baseball Challenge League and joined the Gumma Diamond Pegasus in 2008, starting on Opening Day for them that season and being perfect through seven before falling completely apart in the eighth and losing. He was relegated to being a reliever in 2009 and was then released at season's end, whereupon he played with a nashiki ball club team in 2010. The odd thing about his career is that he was tough with the bases loaded to score on, but not so in other situations.   Official Blog   Reference:  Wikipedia Japan

Biography: Started playing baseball in fourth grade. Was his team's pitching ace and cleanup hitter in high school. Struckout 18 in a game against rival Yashiro High. Drafted on the first round (1985). Had some injury problems in 1987. Traded to Lotte during the 1990 offseason. Converted into an outfielder in 1995 and lead the Eastern Lague in hits in 1996. Was released by Lotte at the end of the 1997 season and re-signed by Hanshin as a pitcher after a tryout, going to a sidearm delivery and learning the shuuto. Won his first game in ten years, the longest anyone in Japanese history had gone between victories at the time (5/22/1999 against Yomiuri at Koshien Stadium in a relief appearance). Absolutely owned Hideki Matsui. to the point that Matsui said he was still having nightmares about Toyama even after joining the Yankees. Began having knee problems in 2001 and that hindered his performance to the point it resulted in his release and retirement. Selected to one all star team (2000). Became a baseball commentator for Sankei Sports, Mainichi Broadcasting and Gaora, after retirement before he was hired by Hanshihn as a minor league pitching instructor. Reference: Wikipedia Japan

Biography: Began pitching in junior high. Was a reliever in high school, but became his college squad's ace and won a total of 29 games for his career there. Drafted on the third round (1992). Was used mostly as a starter by Seibu up through 2000. Had shoulder surgery during the 1997 season, but not before shutting out Daiei in a 21-0 final (5/7/1997). His 38 saves in both 2002 and 2003 were then Pacific League records. His 44 save points in 2002 was a Pacific League record. Qualified for free agency after the 2005 season and signed with Yomiuri. When he was getting hit in 2006, admitted that he started to become afraid of going out on the hill and, after he was demoted to middle relief, was afraid that his career was about to end. Had back problems in July, 2009 and missed two months of the season. Released by Yomiuri at the end of the 2010 campaign and picked up by Hiroshima. Selected to four all star teams (1997, 2001-2004). Fastball in te high 80's with a slider, curve and forkball. Is also known for throwing tantrums when he fails as well as his routine after he comes in of facing centerfeld and beating his chest and then tipping his cap to each of the outfielders. 100th save (8/29/2003 against Orix at Seibu Dome). 150th save (4/11/2007 against Hiroshima at Hiroshima Municipal Stadium, the fifth man to that mark ever). 500th game (8/21/2009 against Yakult at Meiji Jingu Stadium in a seventh inning relief appearance). Became a minor league pitching coach with Yomiuri after retirement.   Official Homepage   Reference:  Wikipedia Japan
