Biography: Played in one Koshien Tournament (spring 1980). Struckout 19 in a game in college to set a Tokyo Metropolitan University League record (spring 1983). Tossed a no hitter as well (fall 1983). Finished 33-13 for his collegiate career. Was named MVP of a Japan-U.S. college all star tournament (1985). Drafted on the second round (1985). Surrendered a Pacific League record 13 runs in a complete game (9/2/1987 against Nankai).15 strikeout game (6/22/1988 against Nippon Ham). Became the first man ever to throw enough innings to qualify for an ERA title despite an ERA over 6.00 (1989). Brawled with Jim Traber after hitting him with a pitch (1991 against Kintetsu at Akita Municipal Yabase Sports Park Stadium). Struckout at least one man in every inning of a nine inning game (7/15/1993 against Nippon ham). Also gave up Ichiro's NPB record setting 200th hit in 1994. Ichiro owned him that season (13-18). Biography: Was his high school's pitching ace. His first no hitter was the earliest at the time in anyone's career they had attained that and it was his first pro win. His three no hitters tied a pro yakyu record also held by Eiji Sawamura., but he is the only one to do it since the inception of the two league system in 1950.  His 16 strikeouts in a game set a Central League record (9/14/1968). Injured his shoulder in 1976 and it was a downhill slide from there. Was responsible for ar flaps being put on batting helmets in Japan after he beaned Hanshin slugger Koichi Tabushi in the temple, resulting in blood coming out of the big catcher's ears and putting him in the hospital (8/26/1970 at Koshien Stadium). Selected to five all star teams (1968-1970, 1974-1975). Coached with Hiroshima and Orix after retirement. Has also worked as a baseball commentator for Chugoku Broadcasting. Had 11 walkless complete games lifetime. 100th win (4/5/1975 against Yakult  at Meiji Jingu Stadium, the 63rd to that mark). 1000th strikeout (8/14/1972 against Taiyo at Hiroshima Municipal Stadium in the fourth off of John Sipin, the 44th to that mark). 1500th strikeout (8/8/1975).
