Biography: Dropped out of college his freshman year and headed for the industrial leagues. Drafted on the fourth round (1990). Had control problems earely in his career, so his manager decided to try to help him iron them out by making him pitch batting practice before most games and using him in the games often. Caused an auto accident that lead to him having to sit out the remainder of the 1995 season, provoking Daiei to trade him to Nippon Ham. Ended Ichiro's 216 plate appearances  without a strikeout streak (1997). Was the first player to ever use an agent to negotiate for him in 2000. Was a reliever the first few years of his career before he was inserted into the rotation in 2000. At 37, became the oldest pitcher ever to lead his league in wins and is only the second to do it while not throwing enough innings to qualify for the ERA title (2005). Is notoriously shy to the point of refusing to do post game "hero interviews." His teammates at Nippon Ham even attempted to arrange a marriage for him, but he and the woman in question weren't a match personalitywise and they broke up before the relationship got serious. After qualifying for free agency in 2003, hired Scott Boras to see if there was any MLB interest in him. There wasn't and he stayed in Japan. 1000th strikeout (8/25/2005 against Hiroshima, Mike Romano being the victim). 100th win (7/6/2007 against Chunichi at Nagoya Dome in a start; he thus became the oldest man ever to attain his 100th victory at 39 years and a month). 1000th inning (8/25/2005 against Hiroshima at Hiroshima Municipal Stadium in the second inning). 1500th inning (8/1/2007 against Yakult at Koshien Stadium). 500th appearance (4/4/2006 against Hiroshima at Hiroshima Municipal Stadium in a start, going six shutout innings in a win). 600th appearance (4/4/2010 against Chunichi at Nagoya Dome in a start). Selected tio four all star teams (1994, 1997, 2001, 2005). Currently lives with his two dogs. Reference: Wikipedia Japan    Official Homepage

Biography: Raised mainly in Fukuoka. Started playing baseball in fourth grade. Played in Boys League in junior high, which was when he became a pitcher. Became his high school team's ace his junior year. Suffered an elbow injury in the industrial leagues. Drafted on the second round (1997). Opened the 1999 season with 11 straight winnning decisions, the first time anyone had ever done that solely in relief. Had thoughts about converting into a starter for the 2001 campaign, but manager Sadaharu Oh said no, believing he was best suited for a relief role. Closed out the pennant clincher in 2003 against Lotte. But he was subsequently struck by the injury bug in 2004-2005. Released at the end of the 2009 season and picked up by Yokohama. Went 37 straight appearances without giving up a run in 2011. Fastball, slider, cutter and changeup. Selected to two all star teams (1999, 2003). Reference:  Wikipedia Japan

Biography: Started playing baseball in third grade. Played in one Koshien Tournament (summer 1982). Threw a no hitter in that tourney, missing a perfect game when he hit a batter with two gone in the ninth inning. It would have been the first perfecto in Koshien history. Drafted on the second round by Yakult, but turned their offer down and went to college (1982). Won 16 games in college.
