Biography: Started playing baseball in third grade.Won six games in a season in college to not only earn an MVP, but it got his school admitted to the top level of the Tokyo Metropolitan University League. Selected to the Japanese national collegiate all star team. Reportedly threw in the mid-90's when he was in college, but then broke his elbow his senior year, threatening his future ability to pitch. Finished his collegiate career with a record of 8-13 and a 2.12 ERA. Drafted on the first round (1991). He then had surgery the following January and was out for the duration of the 1992 season. One pitch win (7/11/1999 against Hanshin at Nagoya Dome in a ninth inning relief appearance, inducing a double play ball out of Makoto Imaoka). One pitch loss (4/27/1995 against Hanshin at Koshien Stadium in a tenth inning relief appearance, Glenn Davis taking him deep in a 5-4 final). Is the only man ever to have accumulated a one pitch victory, loss, hold, save and a zero pitch appearance (game was called after he took the mound) during his career. Has been used mostly as a middle reliever and setup man. Selected to two all star teams (1999, 2003). Became a tv baseball commentator for Chubu Nihon Broadcasting before taking a job as the pitching coach for the Samsung Lions of the KBO. Is married. Reference: Wikipedia Japan

Biography: Started playing baseball in fourth grade with a local youth team. Wanted to play in the industrial leagues after high school, but there was no interest and so he played with a club team while working in the Ashikaga City Hall. Drafted on the seventh round (1992). That made him te first player ever drafted off of a club team. Traded to Orix in June, 1997. They let him go in the dispersal draft to Rakuten after the 2004 campaign. Released after the 2005 season, but incoming manager Katsuya Nomura, who Ogura had played under at Yakult, decided to give him another chance with the Golden Eagles. Played on NPB's all star team that faced off against one from MLB, giving up a walkoff grand slam to Mets shortstop Jose Reyes (2006). Selected to two all star teams (2000-2001). Became a batting practice pitcher with Orix after retirement. High 80's fastball, kuckle curve, slider. Reference:  Wikipedia Japan
