Biography: Submariner. Was a reliever in high school. Played in one Koshien Tournament, winning it all (summer 1997). Was his college team's ace, winning two Tokyo Metropolitan University League MVPs and finishing with a 35-18 record lifetime in 80 games in that circuit. Also named to two league Best Nine squads. Is the all time wins leader for Asia University. Drafted on the first round (1981). Started a game against Yokohama and was inserted into rightfield with two outs in the fifth inning after starting the game on the hill so that a reliever could come in to get one hitter. Once that was done, Miyamoto ascended the mound again and went three more innings to get credit for a relief win, the first time in 15 years that had happened (8/29/1993 at Yokohama Stadium 3-1). Had three walkless complete games lifetime. Became a sportswriter for Sankei Sports before coaching and scouting with Yakult after retirement. Reference:  Wikipedia Japan
