Biography: Started playing baseball in fourth grade. Took him two years between high school and when he got into Waseda because he had to study for the entrance exam. Became his college's pitching ace as a sophomore and went 20-10 in 52 games with six shutouts lifetime in Tokyo Big Six University League action. Was also team captain his senior year. Drafted on the first round (1989). Started on Opening Day five times for Lotte (1992-1993, 1997-1999), . Went the distance in six straight winning starts to open the season in 1993, a pro yakyu record. Unfortunately, he then dropped his next six decisions. But then he won each of his first six decisions to open the 1997 campaign. Was let go by Lotte after he declared he was going to use his free agency rights. Started on Opening Day, 2001 for Yokohama. Signed with the Mets for 2002 and was released after one season, going 0-3 with a 5.61 ERA. He subsequently re-signed by Lotte and mostly assigned to mop up duty. Became a baseball commentator after retirement. Beginning in 2006, He also went back to his alma mater and eventually got a master's degree in sports science. Was a player coach his last three years with the Marines. Fastball was in the mid-80's with a curve, slider, splitter, changeup, cutter, sinker and shuuto  He also had a pitch he called "the shake," which, from the description, sounds like he used a forkball grip, but he killed the spin on it and it would come in real slow like a knuckleball. 100th win (7/8/2001 against Yomiuri at Yokohama Stadium, the 116th to that mark). 1000th strikeout (4/4/1998 against Kintetsu at Osaka Domein the fourth inning, the 101st man to that mark). 1500th strikeout (8/29/2007 against Seibu at Seibu Dome in the seventh inning, the 49th man to that mark and the oldest ever to achieve that). Also currently holds the record for oldest man to earn a save in NPB history at 44 years and 21 days (10/6/2009 against Rakuten at Chiba Marine Stadium in a one pitch save). 1000th inning (9/4/1995 against Orix at Chiba Marine Stadium in a start). 2000th inning (9/15/2001 against Hanshin at Koshien Stadium in a start). Selected to six all star teams (1991, 1993, 1995, 1997-2000). Reference: Wikipedia Japan

Biography: Started playing baseball in third grade with a local youth team. Played in Boys League in junior high. Became his high school's ace his senior year and pitched his squad into two Koshien Tournaments, winning it all in the second one. Drafted in the seventh round (2001). Was the last man to get his first pro win with Kintetsu. Lead the Western League in hits, homers and earned runs given up in 2005. Saw very limited action in the minors in 2006, ten games. But he turned things around in 2007, leading the Western League in wins and ERA.  Made the Buffaloes out of spring training 2009, but was demoted to the minors in June and then recalled a couple of weeks later withi his control still an issue. Six of his nine wins were aginast Softbank (also lost two against them)  while four of his losses were against Rakuten. It was also revealed that he had injured his knee and was having shoulder problems, causing him to drop his arm angle trying to compensate. Clocked as high as 92mph with a curve and slider. His outpitch is his changeup. His wife is a former high school classmate. Reference:  Wikipedia Japan

Biography: Was a Yomiuri fan growing up. Was selected to Japan's national collegiate all star team and struckout 14 in a game against a university all star squad from the U.S. Selected to two Tokyo Metropolitan University League Best Nines. Compiled a 15-3 record in 34 games with a 1.91 ERA for his collegiate career. Drafted on the first round (1984). Suffered a torn Achilles tendon injury in 1990. Then there was a big misunderstanding that year in which he thought that the Fighters were trying to force him into retirement in August and so he refused to take their phone calls. He finally resurfaced in November with that story, but it may have just been a tactic for Nippon Ham to hold on to him while opening a roster spot (they only had a 60 man roster back then) for a healthy player since under the rules they would still have his rights if/when he made a comeback. Went to Yomiuri as a free agent. Reportedly was tutored in throwing the knuckleball by then Dodgers pitcher Tom Candiotti as part of a tv program in 1996, but he never used it in a game. Had knee problems in 2000 and decided to retire. Had one walkless complete game lifetime. Coached in the Baseball Challenge League in 2008-2009. Reference:  Wikipedia Japan

Biography:  Started playing nanshiki ball in third grade with a local youth team thanks to the influence of his friends. Also played nanshiki ball in junior high, playing on two prefectural championship teams. Became a pitcher his first year of high school, becoming its ace his junior year. Drafted on the first round (1996). Lead the Western League in wins in 2001 and then garnered consecutive middle reliever of the year awards in 2002 and 2003. However, he didn't perform in the bigime during that period, surrendering 10 runs in one relief appearance as an example (4/26/2003 against Yakult). Traded to Rakuten during the 2004 offseason for no compensation. Had the Eagles first ever relief win (4/2/2005 against Seibu at Sendai). Has been clocked as high as 94mph with a sinker, curve, slider and forkball. He's one of those guys who keeps getting chances because of his stuff, but his command is highly erratic.
