Biography: Started out playing baseball in Little League. Played Senior League ball and junior high nanshiki ball. He hurt his elbow as a result and became an outfielder in high school. Was team captain in high school and college. Was working for All Nippon Airaways after college and was working the counter at Haneda Airport, where he was seen by former rivals Katsunori Nomura and Taisei Takagi, who encouraged him to give baseball another shot. He subsequently tried out for Hiroshima and was invited to the team's fall camp. He quit his job and ultimately was signed, but because the draft had already happened, they sent him to their Dominican academy for most of the ensuing year, Hiroike paying out of his own pocket for the experience. Biography: Started playing baseball in fifth grade in Little League. Played in Boys League during junior high. Drafted on the fourth round (2001). After surrendering a grand slam to Hiroshima outfielder Koichi Ogata in 2004, started experiencing anxiety when he was on the hill to the point where his hands would sweat profusely and it played havoc with his command. Finally conquered the problm during the 2006 campaign. Did not get into a single game in college. Learned a changeup while pitching in the Dominican Winter League in 2007. Biography: Started playing baseball in first grade. Was a catcher in junior high, but was immediately converted into a pitcher upon entering high school. Injured his elbow in college and dropped out to work construction while he rehabbed it. Joined a club team in 1997. Passed a tryout with Yomiuri in 1998, but went undrafted. Tried out for Yakult in 1999 and was drafted on the sixth round (1999). A career middle reliever. Released after the 2006 season.

Biography: Was his high school team's ace and cleanup hitter. Played in one Koshien Tournament. Had the best day of any player in Japanese history when he not only tossed a no hitter, but slugged three homers to boot. Had two coaching stints with Yomiuri in between jobs as a baseball commentator. In his last ever appearance, he threw two shutout innings after coming on in the eighth and then drilled a two run homer off of Tsugio Kanazawa in the bottom of the eighth while earning the save (10/10/1983 against Taiyo at Korakuen Stadium). Was the winning pitcher in the Giants 3000th victory. Got his nickname for his fondness for partying as well as his surly approach to the press. Had seven walkless complete games lifeitme. Selected to nine all star teams (1966, 1968-1975).
