Racked up the first save in Rakuten history (4/13/2005 against Softbank at Miyagi Prefectural Stadium). Had his tonsils removed during the 2006 offseason. After just four appearances, Texas designated him for assignment  in May, 2008 and he subsequently had surgery for a herniated disk in his back.  He requested his release from the Rangers in June, 2009, whereupon he was picked up by Rakuten again following a tryout. Throws in the high 80's with his forkball as his outpitch. He also throws a knuckle curve he has trouble commanding. Selected to two all star teams (2006-2007).
