Biography: Tried out for Nishitetsu while still in high school and passed the audition. He transfered to Hakata so that he could workout with their minor league club while he finished school. Signed with Nishitetsu before the 1959 season. Hurt his right thumb in 1962. He made a mechanical change to his delivery to accommodate the injury and ended up putting a funky break on his pitches as a result. Traded to Hanshin. Had two lifetime walkless complete games. Ran a snack bar after retirement.

Biography: Started out playing baseball in first grade on a local touth team his father coached. Was his high school team's pitching ace. Played in one Koshien Tournament (summer 2001). Drafted on the fourth round (2002). His delivery and build were thought to resemble Hisashi Iwakuma, so he was given Iwakuma's old number. Was the last man to be a losing pitcher for the Buffaloes before Kintetsu was merged with Orix (9/27/2004 against Orix at Kobe Green Stadium in relief). Was mostly a mop up man in 2005-2006. Traded to Hanshin in November, 2007. Had a breakout season in 2008 and became part of the regular Hanshin bullpen lineup. Released by Hanshin at the end of the 2011 season and picked up by Yakult. Biography: Father died during WWII. Switched from an overhand delivery to submarine after suffering an elbow injury in high school. Struckout 17 in a game to set a then record (5/24/1962 against Nankai in his first start of the season and fanning at least one man in every inning). Won his MVP the year Hankyu notched its first ever PL pennant. Injured his shoulder during spring training of 1968, robbing him of velocity, so he added a sinker to his arsenal and it became his outpitch. He later taught that pitch to future hall of famer Hisashi Yamada. In Japan Series action, Hankyu beat the Giants only eight times in five series, but Adachi claimed five of those victories. He would finish 9-5 for his career in Japan Series action. Pitched through a knee problem in 1978 and shined again in the Japan Seriea against Yakult by throwing a shutout, but in game seven, he gave up a disputed home run to Katsuo Osugi in the sixth and , during the ensuing one hour and 19 minute rhubarb with the umpires, he had to come out after his knee stiffened up in what was a 4-0 defeat.  It was his last series appearance. Selected to six all star teams (1964, 1966-1967, 1971-1972, 1976),. Had 24 walkless complete games.  100th win (4.18.1971 against Nishitetsu at Nishinomiya Stadium, the 52nd in history to that mark). 1000 strikeouts (4/24/1971 against Kintetsu at Nihon Seimei Stadium, the 39th to that mark). Retired after the 1980 season and became a minor league pitching coach for Hankyu. Later became a scout for Orix. Was the model for the character of pitcher Satoshi Satonaka in the wildly popular comic series Dokaben. Reference:  Wikipedia Japan

Became a submariner on the advice of pitching coach Takao Obama his rookie season. Biography: Started out playing softball in second grade. Played nanshiki ball in junior high. Became his high school team's ace his sophomore year and then pitched that club to its first Koshien Tournament game win in 44 years before they got beat in their next match in that tourney even though he went all 12 innings. Selected to Japan's national high school all star nine. Drafted on the first round (2009). His big club debut was a disaster, as he surrendered three hits (one of them a two run homer) and a walk while also unleashing two wild pitches before he was pulled after not retiring anyone and three runs had crossed the plate against him. Fastball tops out at 91mph with a slider, forkball, curve and screwball. Reference:  Wikipedia Japan
